And today the dreams come true for the combined llingliiig and Bornuin and Bailey Bhows are again in Salcni, and urchins are indulging In all manner of In trigue so as to he under. the - big top'' for one or the other of the two performances today. The circus came here from Portland, the first of the four long trains of 100 cars arriving before rosy fingered dawn had tinted the landscape, many youngiters brav ing the Ire of parents and tum bling out of bed while tho Btars were still shining so as to bo on hand early to greet the red wagons and circus folk. Urchins wore on hand ranging from the bald stage of Infancy to the bald stage at tho other extreme, while quietly and with all the dignity of a Sunday school gathering the huge wagons rumbled off the flat cars and sent quickly on their way to the show grounds. The lnu train brought the ele phants, camels, yaks, sacred cat tle, zebras, llamas, nnd what the circus people call the "led" an imals, because they move majes tically Into port under the men agerie tent from the trains under their own motive power, as con trasted with such aristocrats of the animal kingdom as the giraffes, hippopotami, rhinoceros and "cat" anlmnls who traveled de luxe In scarlet and gold dens and cages with nary a knothole through which curious Juvenile eyes might peek. Thw was no etreet parade this morning, nor has one been any where given by this circus in five years. The entire morning was utilised In erecting the 30 tents necessary for the days housekeep ing, and it was not until about the noon hour that Jim Whalen, architect of the canvas city, pro nounced all In readiness for the matinee performance. A performance is in progress this afternoon and there will be a last and complete show tonight at 8 o'clock, doors being opened 50 CENTS AIT? Soon open at 2:00 and 6:30 u at 7 p. m. to allow small boys escorting their parents a full hour to view the largest zoological dis play ever brought to the coast. The "big top"' beneath which the wonders and glories of the circus aro revealed to pop-eyed urchins of all ages is a whopper of an affair seating 16,000 people. It shelters flvo rings, six stages and the hippodrome oval, all necessary areas of activity for the 800 men anil women performers tho 350 trained horses and the five herds of acting elephants. The program Is all practically new to Salem and is altogether the biggest and best thing In the circus line ever devised and pre sented. Not even the super- optical Col. Argus, himself, can hope to see all that goes on when tho circus gets well tinder way, and for almost three hours there Isn't a second goes to waste In the five rings and upon the stages and track. To mention each and every act would he like Tomorrow afternoon the Salem Senators will cross bats with the Independence nine on the Oxford nark diamond.
