VETS PROTEST Declaring that "mch an act la an Infamous Insult to our hero dead" some 100 members of the Marlon County Veterans assocla tion, meeting at Silverton Thursday to Iced a protest against "the open ing of Arlington mansion as museum for the display of relics of General Lee and the confeder acy." The protest was In the form of a resolution unanimously adopt ed at yesterday's mooting. The resolution further protested against the "treasonable act of the Daugh ters of the Confederacy In at tempting to have the United Slates flag remove.) from our Arlington national cemetery." The Marlon County Veterans as sociation consists of some 200 per sons belonging to the Q. A. R., and Ha auxiliary, the W. R. C. the Daughters of Veterans, the 8ons of Veterans, and its auxiliary, the United Spanish-American War Veterans and lit aux iliary, the Veterans of Foreign "Wars and its auxiliary and the Am erican Legion and Its auxiliary. The association further protested against an act of con ureas permit ting the coinage and sale of souve nir half dollars for procurement of funds to erect a monument on Stone mountain In commemora tion of General Lee and other not ed southern leaders during the Civil War. The second protest, also In the form of a resolution de manded "that no more of our na tional funds he perverted to the support of anyone or any cuune that Is Inimical of seditious to our union." The resolution will be sent to eongrcss and alfio presented to national conventions of patriotic organizations throughout the Unit ed States with a view to encourag ing them to tnkfl similar action. A mother ot four children used as a human shield by a robber flee ing In a hall of police bullets, is dead, and a detective dying, as a result of a spectacular gun fight under the Pennsylvania railroad terminal. Two youthful gangsters were captured, police saving them from crowd or louu persons who threatened lynching. Two others escaped. , Detoctlve Richard E.
