Tentative plans for the entertainment of Ihn officers, midsnipmen ana sum ore who wlil visit Astoria, July 1 to 11, on the three battleships taking the Annapolis men on tneir eruise, have been completed by the ehambor of commerce committee and submitted to Rear Admiral Vogelsang, cruise commander. Members of the Portland nod Astoria naval base committee will lay the nead for the base before the Secretary of Navy Wilbur anl will give him every opportunity to Insnect the .ite of the base. The warships are scheduled to arrive here about noon on July 19, Sunday afternoon ana even ing will be given over to Seaside, so attempt being made to enter tain the naval men in Astoria. On Monday morning a parade of the midshipmen, seamen ana ma rlncs. headed by the bands of th. battleships, will be hold on the streets of Astoria and will be fol lowed by a Coxir-.g smoker. In the afternoj, ball games will be played between teams from the ships and In the evening there will bo dances In several Astoria halls for the midshipmen and sail ors and a banquet for Secretary of the Navy Wilbur and the offi cers of the squadron.
