Attorneys, witnesses, newspaper men and plain visitors arriving on every Incoming train and bus, were greeted by the clanging of ham mers as carpenters applied the finishing touches to the concession stands springing up I nevery alley way and lining the sidewalks. An addreas by William Jennings Bryan at Morgan Springs lost night formed the chief topic of conver sation at street corners and drug stores. An expression of his faith In the modern Jury system and a discus sion of what he termed an attempt by a minority of scientists to force their views on scientific lines on the children of the majority form ed the principal themes of Mr. Bryan In his address. Some metropolitan papers have ridiculed the idea of trying i scientific question before a jury he said, launched thenceforth in to a defease of the jury system. It would not be possible or even wise to-try such a question before of jury of scientists, he said. Polnlng out that no state in the Union requires an educational qualification of a jury, he declared "our faith in the jury system rests upon the same foundation as our faith in popular government." Mr. Bryan concluded with the declaration that tho Tennessee anti-evolution law simply prohib its the evolutionists from using the public schools for the purpose of substituting "their kind of relig ion for tho religion of the masses.' The- array of defense counsel was to arrive during the day, Clar enee Darrow coming from Cincin nati late this afternoon and Dudley Field M alone and Arthur Garfield Hays coming from Chattanooga With them were expected to come several witnesses for the defense. h WANTED Situation h LADY wants houe work by th hour.
