FALLS CITY OUT FOR BEACH ROAD Falls City. July 3 In this par ticular flection a struggle is on to open up a road to Toledo and New port through Dallas and Falls City. This would afford & snort cut for all travel to that beach resort irom the north side of the state. Saving about one half ot the distance from Dallas to Newport and Toledo over going around by Corvaiiis as at present it has to be done. The public generally at Falls City, Valsetz and along the road have donated generously for this improvement and considerable work has been done on the road. Crawford, promi nent local attorney and former at torney general of Oregon, was held Here today. The services were conducted by the Masons. Kimber of the county YMCA. Practically ail of those yet to go must be from out side the city, Salem s quota of having been filled. The camp is to be held for a period of two weeks, beginning July 23. The eunken forest, located un der the ocean surface a few miles from the spot selected as a camp site, will be explained in detail by Deputy State Forester Crone- miller, v,ha has been secured to instruct tbe boys at the camp. Instruction will be worked in with the regular activities of the camp, winch are to consist for the most part of hiking, swim ming and athletic contents. "Chief" Bent of the Chemawa Indian school will give instruc tion in woodcraft and Indian lore Mr. Bateham, local authority or botany, will instruct the hoys is woodcraft and botany. Bob Board- man of the local YMCA staff will give instruction in life saving and first aid, assisted by doctors brought from Salem for the pur pose.
