MONDAY, APRIL 27, 1925. " '01 THE CAPITAL' JOURNAL, SALEM, OREGON Society m Club News Edited by Rosalia Keber, Pbon. SI Autochrome Plates to Be Exhibited An opportunity to see auto ehroines, or lantern elide plates by wblch direct color photogra phy 1 accomplished, will be ot tered the Salem public tomorrow evening In the program which the Salem Arts league wilt give at the pnblic library. Robert Paul us, practically the only amateur photographer in the northwest actually engaged in auto chrome making at present, will show bis collection of plates before the league meeting, anu will explain the Intricacies of. the taking and developing. Autochrome enthusiasts are very rare, says Mr. Paulus. and he finds it extremely difficult to se cure supplies. He says that al though a number of people have experimented with the process and have had results ranging from poor to very good, because of the difficulties and expense connected with this hoppy they have not continued It. It does not require a special camera to take these pictures merely a specially colored glass, known as a color screen, to put over the lens to hold back the blue and violet rays which are stronger than the other colors and affect the films much more readily. Of course the Impres sions are made on special plates made in a manufacturing plant. Autochromes are exposed very much longer than ordinary pic tures and the development of the plates Is an extremely delicate and painstaking affair. Mr. Paul us says that he takes most of bis pictures before eight in the morn tng as usually the air Is more still early in the morning. In addition to exhibiting his plates Mr. Paul as will explain the process of their making In his appearance before the league meeting tomor row evening. The. responsibility of the mother does not end with properly clothing and feeding the baby. Her own health is directly reflected in the little one, and the poisons bottled up in her body by constipation transfer themselves to the innocent child and too often result in serious sickness. Mother's bowels should act at least twice a day, and baby's bowels more frequently. Physicians agree on this subject. Dr. Caldwell's SYRUP PEPSIN . The Family Laxative relieves constipation. It is a pure, harmless, gentle combination of Eptian senna, ;epsin and aroma tics in liquid form that opens up the bowels, and promotes and encourages Nature to perform her proper functions.
