MONDAY, APRIL ROSE FESTIVAL PLANS ED Portland. Apr. !7. A tenta tive program for Portland'! 1925 Rose Festival, which is to be nearly lour times aa large aui comprehensive aa any previous rose carnival, is announced this week by O. W. Mielke, president. Monday will aee the arrival ot the grand old battleship "Ore gon" with the Queen ot Rosaria and her court as passengers, and the openfug performance ot "Ro saria," pageant of 5000 persons to be presented on a colossal stage in Multnomah field. The queen will be crowned in the final ocene. Tuesday is the opening day ut the annual rose show, which la to be enlarged for 1925's augmented festival. Tuesday also will be "Rosebud Day" in the Portland parks where children will pre sent dancing and singing ' pro grams. The second performance of "Rosaria" will conclude the day's program. A regatta on the Willamette river with the largest fleet of racing hydroplane boats In the country is the main event of Wednesday, June 17th. The rose show will be continued and "Ro saria" will be presented. Portland's florious floral pa rade, which this year will hae "Roaarla" aa a rival for popular ity, is scheduled for Thursday: The pageant will have its fourth performance on Thursday night. Friday is the final day, and the carnival parade, for which a name is being selected, will end the 1925 festival in an orgy of fun. Nothing like this brand new feature of the Rose Festival has been produced in the United States. Every entry In It must contain a smile and most of them will be worthy of a hearty laugh The final 1925 performance of "Rosaria" on Friday night will conclude the festival. SALEM DEFEATS v ALBANY H! NINE The Salem high school baseball nine won over the fast Albany team by a 6Core of 6 to 5. The Saiuui hoys took an early lead and were able to hold it throughout the game. At a meeting held in the Kour-L hall Thursday night the Mill City Tennis club was formerly organ- red, with the following officers elected: President, Glenn A, Smith, vice- president Walter L. Morgan; sec retary and treasurer, C. I At- wood. The membership Is to be limited to thirty members and a commit tee was appointed to draft the rules and bylaws. This club will take over the handling of the two new courts which are being made in the Dr. Allen park. The grad ing has been completed, and work I ot erecting the backstops will com mence lmmediiitely. A crew will be on hand Sunday morning to start rolling the courts.
