Any local busi ness establishments who care to use an apprentice for a hall day at a time, either morning or after noons, mar secure the use of one by communicating with him at the hieh school, be says. More than 400 students an reg istered In commercial work at the high school. Of the number 56 will Kradunte this year. "These graduating students are well qual ified to till positions as stenogra nhera. bookkeepers and salespeo ple,' 'said Merritt Davis, head of the commercial department, yes terday, "but before sending them out Into permanent positions we intend to give them some prac tical office experience. To ac complish this we send each stu dent into an office or business bouse for two or three weeks, then changing him to another unless the business man desires to keep tha student for a permanent posi tion. In this way they will be rotated in the positions, giv4ng them as wide experience as possi ble. One-half ot each school day will be spent In school and one- half in the business houses. "No charge Is made for the stu dents' services, as they are given credit toward graduation. The benefit is mutual; it gives the student experience, in exchange for which he renders valuable service, and It gives the business man an opportunity to try out and select an assistant without cost to him or obligation to the student. Many Salem men have taken advantage ot this oppor tunity In the past and heartily en dorse it. Indian Chief is Co-respondent - R ' i i i i im 11:1. Sunday at 11 a. m.
