Yesterday marning there wan no
life to the potato market, with
price more or leas nominal. Dur
ing the afternoon, however, the
market to ik on an entirely differ
ent complexion. Seattle buyer
here after potatoes, for the firt

manifested in the precipitous drop
in 1924 of tho product coming Into

state, sulphured or In brine,'' aays

tributed to various cause but

few outstanding ones such as the
larce carry-over from the preced
ing year coupled with high priced

crop. In ad-lition, the customs au
thorities have carried fitted cher
rie under the higher duty classi
fication, which undoubtedly ac
coirnls for a part of the decrease,
im well as f ir the increase shown
in the um year under "cherries,
maraschino und other prepared or
preserved."
The unusually havy arrivals in

disposition to over their require

they have been regularly dealing.
The more conservative canners are
hesitating to accept this business
at firm prices. The larger part of
the selling of the northuest can
ned goods pack will probably not
develop until lute April or early
May.
The damage to the crop has
been investigated by the Mcinrath
Corbaley company and Is summar

crop. If weather conditions should
be at all unfavorable, there will
be a serious shortage,

depends upon the maturing of the

age except to Royal Anne cherries
on some of the low ground In Oregon."

meeting of the Presbyterian

the meeting. Air. Gulvin was re
elected a elder, Mr. Harbcr was
re-elected as trustee and also secretary-treasurer,
and Mrs. Taylor
was elected as collector. It was
voted to retain Rev. Stewart as
pastor for the ensuing year. A so
cial time was held after the meet
ing. Refreshments consisting of
cookies and punch were served by
the lad ice aid society.
