Bragg, who with a woman not his wife was arrested by the Salem po lice a few dags ago at the South ern Pacific depot. The woman is held as a witness against him. The pair are from Tacoma. The wom an, whose maiden name she gives as Sylvia Jones, claims to have a husband in California, His name she gives as Corales. She gives her age as 22 but appears young er. When first arrested they claimed to be husband and wife. Mrs. Mary Walter and daughter Millie, both of her Scio, were Salem visitors today. Tubandt of Alrlle was operated upon at a local hos pital today. The Willamette university base ball team went to Newberg to play Pacific college this afternoon, Mrs. A. Zelka ot Garden' Road was brought to Salem for medical treatment at a hospital yesterday. Mrs. D. W. DeLay of Gervals will return home tonight. She was operated upon at a local hospital some 19 day ago, and has been under going medical treatment ever since. A second election to determine the oecnpant of a place on the student council at Salem nigh school -will be held Thursday, no majority having been determined In an election held at the high school this morning. The second vote will be between the two lead, ing contestants of .- todsy's elec tion, Frances tarts and Wesley Al len. Eddie Running, who pleaded guilty in circuit court to obtain ing property by false pretenses. and Albert Wlnkleblock, who pleated guilty to forgery, were to day sentenced by Judge Kelly to serve two years each in the state penitentiary. M. J. Shanafelt, who was recently returned here from Olympla and pleaded guilty to forgery, was sentenced to two year in the state prison but was paroled from the bench. The senior class at Salem high school has nominated Edgar Tib- bits and Avery Thompson to par ticipate in graduating exercises of the class this spring. Election will be made tomorrow. Five of the old board of direc tors were re-elected and two new ones selected, taking the place of Dr. M. Hayter and W. M. Elliott, who withdrew from the associa tion. The new directors are O. A. Schroeder and Fred R. Elliott Ke.elected directors are H. S. Duti, Ira C. Powell T. J. Alsip Henry Voth and E. J. Himes. The board wilt meet on April 22 to organize for the year and elect of ficers. The purpose of the plant, upon which the local holds an option, was authorized. This is the plant of the old Oregon Growers. s Four members of the association exercised their withdrawal privil ege. They have been given the right to sign up again if they so desire before the 1925 crop is har vested. The. financial report of the lo cal association showed that the cost of handling the prunes local ly would be about .8 of a cent this year. The growers here have received i cents a pound to date. Miss Oberholtxer had been un conscious for two weeks preceding her death. Miss Oberholtzer was widely known in public school circle throughout Indiana. She had served as secretary-treasurer of the Young People's Reading Circlc ot Indiana, an organisation con nected with the public school sys tem, andalso was formerly employ ed in the office ot the state super intendent of public instruction.
