Pennants waved, cameras click ed, players smiled, and the train, gathering speed, passed out of sight taking with It the team which makes the logest trip of any of the many teams which are to vie for the championship of the United States In basketball. Frank Baker, wife and family of Port' land visited over the week-end with Mr. Baker's parents, E. C. Baker and wife. Mrs. Andrew Baker of Mill City called on E. C. Baker, Saturday night, on her way to Salem. The fire department answered a call fihortly after noon Saturday from the residence of William An derson. It was a small roof fire starting from soot burning in the chimney and was soon extinguish ed with practically no loss. John Gower and con, Leonard, of Newberg, drove to Turner, Sun day, to viist with his son, Gerald, and wife and to call on his old friend, E. C. Baker, who is recov ering from a Biege of the flu. Dr. Guilford B. Gollemore of Yamhill' visited Sunday in Turner j and Salem. I The fine epring weather of last Sunday brought the cars out on the highway In large numbers. Sanson head of biff eastern and Canadian linen Industrie, will put up i definite proposition to Balem bus! neaa men as to what he will do In the line of establishing a linen plant here to care fo ra share of the Willamette valley grown flax. Mr. Saiuon hat agreed to put o0,- 000 Into the proposition himself. At tonight's meeting it Is under stood he will tell what he thlnkn the community should do. Mr. Sanson operates three linen mills In Canada and one In New York state. He has been in the business for the past 25 years and believes that with the quality of Willamette valley flax behind them, there should be a number of linen mills in the valley.
