collector of internal rerenue, an
nounced today that under instruc
tions from tbe Internal revenue
bureau these returns would be re
ceived at hia office on Monday,
March 16, until midnight. Out-of-town
taxpayers must see that their
returns are mailed not later than
M ircii 16 in order o escape pen
allies for delinquency. -
In order hrtter to take care of
the last minute rush, Collector
Huntley's office In the custom
house in this city will remain open
until 9 p. m. Friday and Saturday,
March 13 and 14.
Collector Huntley also issued a
Statement calling the attention of
taxpayers to the fact that re.
quests for extension of time for
filing returns cannot be appror
ed or granted by his office. All
such requests must be sent to the
commissioner of Internal rerenue,!
Washington, D. C, prior to March1
15, and failure to obtain approval
will constitute delinquency in malt
ing return.
