Scott Page home yesterday when Mrs. Page and Mrs. Lee Canfield entertained. The living room and dining rooma of the Page home were gayly decked with baskete of daf fodils and acaefa. Attractive fav ors and novelties carrying m sug gestion of spring were used thru out. High bridge honors were won by Mrs. P. E. Fullerton. Assist ing the hoetetes at the tea hour were Mrs. William Cravatt of Portland, and Mrs. W. I. Need bam. Order of the Eastern Star enjoyed a de lightful social afternoon in the Masonic Temnle yesterday. Th social committee in charge of tlu affair included Mrs. Katheri Bernardi. chairman, and Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Ethel Welch. Mrs. Josephine Vass, Mrs. Eva M Breedlnve and Mra. Rock. Both the soc i ii 1 roo m s d own- stairs and the dining room where tea was served at email tables were very attractively decorated with scores of baskets of jonquils, piisy willows and Oregon grape. Prominently displayed in the so cial room was a large picture of Gcorgp Washington draped in flags. A. secre tary of the finance division, the board and committee women of the Salem Y. W. were hosts at a charming tea in the Y. W. rooms yesterday. More than forty wo men were present and enjoyed the talk given by Miss Bromley dat ing the afternoon on the history of the association. Musical num bers included, piano solos by Miss Lean Medler, and violin numbers by Miss Margaret Kaster. Tea was uerved in the parlors which were attractively decked with spring flowers for the oc casion, Mrs. Dan Fry, Jr., was in charge of the tea table which formed a charming picture with violets, daffodils, yellow tulips and yellow candles. Mrs. W. E. Kirk poured. Mrs. W. I. Staley Introduced the members of the group to the honor guest. In the receiving line also was Mias Marion Wyman, Sa lem secretary. The social committee in charge of the affair yesterday included Mrs. J. C. Perry, chairman, Mrs. Dan Fry, Jr.. Mrs. Mark McCal lieter, Mrs. Ralph Cooley, Mrs. W. L. Philipp, Mrs. W. F. Poor- man, Mrs. C. B. McCullough. Mrs. John H. Carson and Mrs. Karl Be ike. Mrs. C. N. Hathaway was pleas antly surprised one afternoon last week when members of the Book and Thimble club came to her home for their meeting. Becaues of ill health Mrs. Hathaway has been unable to attend any of the other meetings of the club. During the meeting hour Mrs. E. Pa tt icon read "Kin instructive paper on nutrition. Mrs. L. F. Brown sang as a solo number "Ask Me Not to Forget Thee." and read "Auntie Doleful's Visit.' The club quartet gave several se lections. The remainder of the af ternoon was devoted to vieiting. Mrs. L. Kirk Is in charge, has arranged a delightful program for the February social meeting of the club which will be an event of Saturday afternoon in the club house. Mre. L. King and F. M. Bock families. Mrs. P. E. Given of Silverton (Vera Wright) spent Saturday In Salem visiting with friends and relatives. Mies Mildred Coin ac companied her home on Saturday and was her bouse guest until Monday. The sewing society of the Wo men's Relief Corps will meet to morrow afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. veterans will be welcomed at this meeting Chapter AB Entertains Chapter G The formal observance of Founders' Day was a delightful occasion on Monday evening when Chapter AB of the P. E. 0 sisterhood entertained as their guests the members of chapter G t the home of Miss Dorothea Steusloff on Court street. Assist ing Miss Steusloff as hostess:. were Mrs. W. D. Smith and Mrs H. E. Barrett. The living rooms of the Steus loff home were fiayiy decked with spring flowers of bright hues. For the entertainment of the group Mre. T. E. McCroskey hud arranged a splendid program. seven members of chapter AB impersonated the seven girls who rounded the sisterhood at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on January 20, 1869. and each gave a sketch of the life of the founder whom she represented. Then in a lovely ceremony five of the candles in the lovely candlebra, which con tamed seven glowing tapers, were extinguished signifying the death of five of the seven founders. The two remaining lighted were left in honor of the two founders yet living. Mrs. Harry Styles and Miss Lena Belle Tartar, members of ! the hostess chapter, delighted the group by singing a number of old fashioned songs. Mrs. B. J. Miles of chapter G, gave an interesting account of the Founders' day luncheon in Portland in January when the Portland chapters were hostesses to the other chapters of the state. Mrs. T. E. McCroskey gave a group of readings in an en tertaining manner. Members of chapter G who were guests during the evening were Mra. P. J. Kuntz, Mrs. B. J. Mi's, Mrs. W. M. Hughes, Mrs. A. C. Parr.
