It was principal ly through the efforts of Whito that Simpson was placed in the bonus commission ns a member of the staff, from which place he succeeded to the acting secretary hip upon the resignation f Allan Hopkins, later bein- elected as permanent secretary over the pro- test of General White and Secre tary of State Ko7.er, the minority members. Dallas Incident White's fight upon Simpson de veloped into its fullest intensity when Simpson sought to discharge from the staff of field agents of the commission Ed Hamilton, of Dallas, an active supporter of White in tho national guard ma chine the general has built up.
