PAGE EIGHT " ACCIDENT LIST E Accidents in Oregon Industrns are on the decline and fatalities decreased remarkably in 1924 u compared with the previoui ear, according to a report which the state industrial accident com mi i ion baa prepared for the legist ture. Fatal cases numbered only 142 In 1924. as against 178 the previous year, "As workmen were employed total ot 23.116,292 days in 1923 ' and 22,170,061 days in 1924, tt will be seca that on the average we workman lost his life in an in. lustrial accident for each 129 A(7 work daye in 1923," said the re . sort, "while last year but one fa tality resulted lr each 156,127 work days. During 1924 the total ' of all fatal and non-fatal accidents reported -to tho commission wae 25,953, as compared with 30,'JU the previous ycur. The decrease was 14 per cent. "Kmployers paid to the Indus trial accident fund f 2,612, 943.86 In 1923 and $a, Ml, 004. 69 last year. Of the total income in 1923, employers paid 84 per cent, work men 8 per cent and Interest and miscellaneous Items amounted to S per cent. Last year, however, while workmen contributed tho game percentage, employers' con tributions decreased to 80 per cent and the Income of the commission from all other sources increased to 12 per cent. The administrative ex pense for this period was $1,601,- 90.80. "In the same period there were reported to tho commission 193, 239 non-fatal and 1380 fatal ac cidents. "Of the fatnl cases where widows received compensation, there have been 189 cases, where the widows have remarried. Dur ing 1923 there were 29 re marriages and in 1924 the num ber was 30. To care for future payments nf compensation already Awarded in futul and permanent disability cases there has been set snld-1 in a separate fund $3,621. 679.71. "To cover tho liability of all un settled cases, including the Ian; number of workmen who were dis abled as of Decern her 31, the com mission has set up a reserve of $871,680.19.
