Harry Plant haa not completed him oard for this coming Friday renin at the armory aside from the two ten round bouts but aa ures the fana that the card will be the beat that baa been In Sa lem for aome time. . Plant will more than likely have a six round go between 0'Lary of Portland and William Byera of Independence. Byers and O'Leary are willing to mix and they will probably be matched. Plant haa al so planned to have m four round bout between two local boys as a curtain raiser. He la not sure who the boys will be, but one of them will probably be Jack Parmenller, who won over Arthur Mayer on the last card. All of these boys are working hard and which ever one Plant chooses will be In good shape. The two ten round fights promise to be h'jmmers, as Deane la more than determined to win to got another shot at Charles Dawson. Phil Hayes haa trained to his proper weight and will give Warren one of the best flghta that be has had. Doyle will arrive In Salem some time today to wlndup his training lor the fight. Doyle halls from Spokane and all reports are that lie la a classy stepper and will make Deane show all of his wares to get the decision. Deane has complete ly recovered from the operation on his ear, and If he doesn't win It will be because Doyle Is bettor. Plant urges tho tuna to abut a In from smoking during the fight aa It slows tho fighters down when they are forced to step ten fast rounds. Amateur eleuths took up tn trail and dlacove ed that entrance had baeu gained through one of the side windows of the building, university ladder having bsen used for that purpose. Among other clues pounced up on were a few articles of feminine clothing. The last automobile load of the 15 Willamette students who went to the western American studui' conlerence at Asillmur returned Tuesday afternoon. Franklin high has one of the beat teuum in the state as tiiey have a quintet of veterans and many of the new ones are threat ening to take their places from them. Franklin defeated the Che mawa Indians not long ago on the Indians' floor by a 27-20 score. They also won over the Yreka , high school of California by a i score of 4S to i.J. Salem was scheduled to meet the Yreka hign, Hchoul five here on the lust of lie-1 cember but the game waa can-1 colled. Franklin bids fair to give the red and black a hard game and they are almost certain to win the championship of Portland. On Saturday evening the bigi. school five will clash with the McMinnville team on the lo-nu floor. Not much Is known as to the strength of McMinnville but they are certain to make the locals extend themselves to get a win. Salem has a sc'icrtulo of some of the hnrdcHt games in years and will more than likely give a good account of themselves. The only thing that they lack Is a go.j-J guard to fill tho vacancy left by Patterson. Huntington is busy de. vcloping one that will be able to fill the position. Both of tlu.-e games are to start at 7:45 o'clock. "Pug" Hoss will probably referoo. A preliminary game will be playrtl before the Franklin clnnh.
