Jimmy Robinson has been a scout for about a year and a patrol leader for three months. He is about thirteen years old and par ticularly likeable. His companions regret to lose him. Following dinner the time was spent with singing and telling stories. Scout Executive Howard related interesting tales of scout work and boy life. Several of the boys sang. Those included for the dinner and evening were Howard Zinser, scout executive; Wendell Helm, Jimmy Robinson, patrol leader; Homer Richards, patrol leader; Donald Fleming, patrol leader; Harold Bell, scribe, and scouts Kenneth Graber and Rollin Gra ber. Mrs. E. B. Robinson and Kenneth Robinson were also pres ent. The table and rooms were ap propriately decorated with ferns and flags. Mrs. Graham Circle Hostess Mrs. J. F. Graham entertained the South Central Circle of the First Methodist church on Wed nesday afternoon at her residence on South High street. Following the business session a social time was enjoyed. Meyers. In addition to business session, a social time was enjoyed. Plans were made for a church dinner on Friday night of next week. This Is an annual affair. Mrs. Meyers was assisted in serving by Mrs. Edwin L. Baker and Miss Ailine Breck enridge. The Alliance will meet again in two weeks with Mrs. G. Steiner at the residence of Mrs. Milton L. Meyers. Many Give Affairs As Farewell " Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jacobs, who will leave on Monday for Stock ton, California, to make their fu ture home, have been considerably entertained In a delightful way just before their departure. The announcement of their change of residence came so suddenly to Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs and their friends that no opportunity was given to plan anything elaborate, but they have been the inspiration of a number of informal affairs. Mr. and Mrs. George Riches were hosts for Mr. and Mrs. Ja cobs on Thursday evening at a dinner party. Mr. and Mrs. Ja cobs have been their house guests Binco shipping their furniture south. Mrs. E. This was one of a series of affairs which have been hastily planned for them follow ing the knowledge that they will leave on Monday for Stockton, California, tq make their home. Mrs. William McGilchrist was hostess this afternoon for women of a small evening bridge club, which has been meeting this win ter, and a few additional guests, who will come to her home for an informal afternoon of cards. Mr. Jacobs, who has been man ager of the local Woolworth store, has been transferred to Stockton, California. The transfer Is In the nature of a promotion, as the store to which he is going Is larg er than the Salem store. Gay McLaren , Actress, To Give "Enter Madame Mrs. Williamson Hi Club Hostess MrB. L. A. Williamson was host ess for the Hi club on Wednesday afternoon at her home, 1120 South Liberty street. The afternoon's di version was five hundred. Mrs. Fred Bernard! won high score, Mrs. Frank Tyler, consolation. Mrs. R. C. Kriesel assisted the hostess with serving. On Saturday evening Mrs. H. A. Tucker will entertain at the home of Mrs. Fred Bernardl for members of the club and their husbands. Ladies Aid Is Entertained Friday Mrs. J. T. Collins was hostess for the Ladies Aid society of the Jason Lee Methodist church on Friday afternoon. Her table was decorated with yellow tulips. Sev eral musical numbers were given, including the song "Absent,"' beautifully given by Mrs. Fargo. Luncheon was served. Those assist ing the hostess in serving the forty three guests were Miss Mar garet Collins, M:ss Geraldine Col lins, Mrs. Irvine Cleave, Mrs. Bert Waller and Mrs. Bell Roberts. Jefferson Teonle Are Visitors Here Mr. and Mrs. Victor Looney, of Jefferson have been guests for several days of Dr. and Mrs. Wal ter Looney, of Salem. A brief shower of rain which fell early this morning soon froze on the pavements and made the streets, early thie today, very slip pery. Later In the morning, how ever, the Ice melted and horses found it less difficult to keep their footing. The maximum tem perature here last night was 39 and the minimum was 31. From the heads of varioug sections come similar statements, all prov ing beyond doubt that the Salem pubic, always on the lookout for something v new and interesting, is backing the league in its effort to bring to the city some thing combining these character istics with real art and extraord inary talent. Extraordinary Miss McLaren certainly is. Her brilliant ver satility and heretofore unheard of genius has won for her some remarkable press notices and fea ture articles in eastern newspap ers and magazines. A syndicate article appearing several months ago in the magazine supplement of the Oregonian, featured her along with some of the most noted act resses of the day. She is the only dramatic artist in America who can impersonate every known character. She im personates the facial characteris tics, voice and mannerisms of ev ery actor and actress in this country, and aB a repertoire of over thirty plays. Sugar took another rise today and is now selling for $6.20 a sack or -more. An increase was announced yesterday la the price of refineries. Halibut has increased to 35 cents a pound, because of scarci ty and because there is no compe tition in the salmon market. : By shopping about a bit the housewife can obtain real eastern hard wheat flour for $2.10 a sack. This is a price equal to that of valley flour.
