Edwards, who has been Jeweler for the firm of Gardner & Keene for the past 5H years, has resigned his position on ac count of poor health. He will go to Cascadia with his wife and family in a few days. Their many friends will be sorry to learn of their leaving. Mr. Edwards will dispose of his household goods at public sale at their home next Thurgday. Oscar Nendel, who was injured several weeks ago when he fell from a truck, was brought to Salem this week where an X-ray examination was made. After a community dinner and barbecue held at noon today, 600 visitors at tending the Lutheran conference in session here will be guests ot the Community club in a "joy ride" through the coutry tributary to Silverton. More than 100 cars have been secured for the occasion and the visitors, leaving Silverton at 1 o'clock, will pass over the Waldo Hills to Macleay, and re turn by way of Salem and Howell John Bertelson received a tele gram from his former home at Litchfield, Minn., yesterday in forming him of the death of his father, Judge Chris Bertelson. Mr. Bertelson, went to Litchfield a couple of weeks ago when his father's condition first became critical, but returned to Salem when there seemed to be a little! en by Miss Mary Kaker at :30 Improvement in his condition. and again at 11 at the public li- jbrary this morning. Miss Raker will give A Bird Travelogue" tonight at 8 ocloek at the library and at this time she will relate some of the bird habits she has observed on her trips with the Audubon society. Her talk will be illustrated with stereop- tlcon slides of bird pictures. Al though Miss Raker Is but seven teen years old, she is accustomed to speaking on her subject to adult audiences and she has bean heard in Portland and other towns in the state. The Audubon exhibit will close tonight. The library will be closed Sunday and Monday Little Change Is Reported In Flood Height Portland, Or., May 27. Thej flood situation here and along the - Columbia showed little change to- day, according to reports reaching' here. There was further slight rise in tbe Columbia and lower Willamette. Tbe weather bureau, forecast continued next three days. Authorities said that a rise of a foo more in tbe river would cause considerable damage.
