The Cold Canal Vegetation project proposes to thin trees and/or pre- scribe burn on 9,519 acres in the Cold Canal area. The pur- poses of the project are to manage fuel levels on National Forest System lands by minimizing the risks of future high- severity fires, particularly within the wildland urban interface, and to increase the forest’s resilience to natural disturbance. The project is located 10 miles southeast of Joseph, on the Wallowa Valley Ranger District, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The Responsible Official for this project is Kris Stein, District Ranger.
