By Jimmy Hatlo Bears to test 49er 'shotgun' CHICAGO (UPI) The Chicago Bears, who contributed to the evolution of foolball when they switched to the T-formation more than 20 years ago,' face the San Francisco Forty Niners and their spectacular new shotgun forma tion Sunday. There is a growing chorus of eNperts who have suggested that coach Red Hickey s ingenious of fense may be replacing or at least augmenting the T-formation, since pro defenses have pretty well contained the T in re cent seasons. A packed house of 48.000 is a certainty at Wrigley Field to see the shotgun and T collide in an in teresting and acid test. Vejeran Bear coach George Ha las, aided by his brilliant assis tand Clark Shaughnessy, has re portedly been drilling his squad against shotgun patterns all week. The odds-makers have made the Forty Niners a shaky two-point favorite. The Bears, after a poor start, now have a 3-2 record. San Francisco has won four out of five. San Francisco is in good shape for the contest with only end Clyde Conner out of action. He suffered a mild concussion last week at Minneapolis. Hickey has not said for sure, but he is expected to again go with hij troika system which finds John Brodie, Billy Kilmer and Bobby Waters taking turns In the key tailback slot. The victory moved Culver into a tie with Sisters for first place in the district The two clubs will meet next Saturday at 2 p.m. al Sisters and playoff for the title. Culver defeated the Outlaws List year in a similar playoff. Star quarterback Bob MacRos tie paved the way for the lopsided Culver victory. He scored five straight touchdowns and led his mates to a 39-7 halftime margin. The going was downhill for Cul ver after that. Cascade Locks scored twice in the second half but couldn't solve the deceptive running of Mac R os tie.
