OCTOBER 21, 194S Miss Manny Wed in Salem: Couple on Honeymoon Trip A recent Salem weddlna of In terest to local friends is that of Miss Rosalind C are Mannv. for. merly of Bend, who became the bride of Jack Orcutt Luehrs, of untano, at an arternoon cere mony October 17 at St. Paul's Episcopal church- In the capital city. The bride has been employed for the past two years as secre tary for W.P.C.A. In Salem. She is the daughter of Mrs. Doris F. . Manny, of Salem, and Vernon R. Manny, of Santa Rosa, Cal. Luehrs, who attended Oregon State college and Is now employ ed as a slate highway engineer, is tne son of Mrs. O. Ci. Luehrs, of baiem. Rev. George H. Swift officiated at the double ring ceremony. The chancel of the church was dec orated with tall baskets of pink gladioli, chrysanthemums and lo belia, and candelabra holding lighted tapers. Mrs. Ronald Craven was organ ist and soloist. She sang "O Per fect Love" and "The Lord's Pray er." Given by Brother The bride was given In mar riage by her brother, Vernon R. Manny, Jr. Her gown of heavy white satin, made with full, court train, was detailed with panels of lace insertion in the skirt. The shirred bodice was made with sweetheart neckline, lace yoke and leg o'mutton sleeves with pointed cuffs. She wore a three quarter length double tiered net veil, edged with lacs that matched the trimming on the gown. She carried a crescent-shaped bouquet of white chrysanthemums m:c! stephanotis. Mrs. J. A. Nunn, of Scio, was matron of honor, wearing a floor length gown of deep blue taffeta. She carried a bouquet of bronze and gold chrysanthemums, and her headdress was a cap of matching button mums. Bend Friend Is Bridesmaid Mrs. Keith Shlpman, Jr., of Bend, and Mrs. Dale Dorn, of Sa lem were bridesmaids. They y wore gowns of light blue lace, with lace-trlmmed blue satin Ju liet caps. They carried cascade bouquets of yellow button chry santhemums, tied with blue satin ribbon. Lark Brandt was flower girl, In a ruffled white organdy dress. She carried rose petals in a crys tal basket. Philip Martin Brandt, III, was ring bearer. He wore a white suit and carried the rings on a white satin pillow. Both youngsters are children of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Brandt, Jr., of Salem, cousins of the bride. J. Anthony Nunn, of Sclo, acted as best man. Ushers were Keith Shlpman, Jr.,' of Bend, and Dole Dorn, of Salem. Reception Is Held After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. L, Waring, aunt and uncle of the bridegroom, at 595 North Fourteenth street In Sa lem. The rooms were decorated with pink gladioli and white chry santhemums. The . bride's table was. covered with a heavy ecru lace cloth, over pink silk, and cen tered with' an arrangement of pink begonias and chrysanthe mums, with lighted pink and' white tapers alternating with flowers. Miss Patty Orcutt received the guests at the door. Mrs. Philip M. Brandt, Jr., cousin of the bride,, cut the cake. Mrs. Jerry Calaba, cousin of llio bridegroom, served the punch. Mis. Loron Boston passed the guest book, and Mis. William Uurehnll had charge of the gifts. The biide'g mother wore a floor- length gown of uqua crepe, trimmed with blue and gold se quins. She wore .white elbow- length gloves, and an aqua toque or nooon ana net, witn rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown in Alice blue, with long rose-colored mills, and a nlllbox hat with rose and blue flowers. Both had corsaws of eardenius ana pink rosebuds. Local Feoule Attend Many friends and relatives of the bridal couple at tended the wedding and reception. Among those from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. E'arl Weber and Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Jones, of Bend. After the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Luehrs left on a honeymoon trip to Arizona and New Mexico. For going away, the bride wore a moss green' crepe dress, with gold belt. Her accessories were dark green, and her half-hut, In a shade that matched her dress, was trimmed with dark green feathers. A beige coat completed the ensemble, alie wore a corsage of green orchids. After November 1, the couple will be at home In Ontario. Edwards Honored at Party Mrs. Wallace Edwards was hon ored at a stork shower held re cently at the home of Mrs. A. C. McDonald, Willi Mrs. (J. L. atrom and Mrs. Darl L. Stevenson us assistant hostesses. I he after noon was spent playing games, and after the honuree opened the shower gifts, refreshments were served. Group Is Planning Rummage Sale Members of the First Presby terian sewing circle are making plans for a rummage sale which will begin Wednesday, October 27, In the social room of the church, and continue throughout the week. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Articles will be marked and ar ranged ut a meeting of the spon soring group, next Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the church. Mrs. T. A. Simmons and Mrs. Sig Skavlan will be hostesses for the social hour. Contributions for the sale may be left at the church or at 624 Congress; it was announced. Skaters to Join In Masquerade Meeting Tuesday evening at the Civic Roller rink, members of the Central Oregon Skating club made plans for a Halloween masquerade party to be hold Fri day, October 29. A committee was named to arrange entertain ment. Miss Marie Murphy, president of the club, submitted her resig nation as an oil leer because or poor health. Margaret Walker, vice president, will uct as presi dent temporarily. June Loken and Ginger Voose were chosen as doormen, to greet new and old members and Inspect membership cards at the door. A sketch of the emblem to be worn on the club sweaters was submitted and discussed. Faculty Danies will meet Tues day, October 26, for a 1:30 lunch eon at the Pine Tavern. Alter- ward, the meeting will be held at the rome of Mrs. W. R. Nance, 1508 East Ninth street. Children will be cared' for til the home of Mrs. Hurry Drake, 1128 Lexing ton. Bend Home Extension unit will meet Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. George Smith, 342 East Clay street. There will be a business meeting, followed by a talk on "Put tern Selection," by Miss Miriam Shelton, home dem onstration ugent. Bullelin Classifieds bring results Shrine Club Giving Dance Dancing and cards will high light the entertainment for mem bers of ail Masonic bodies and their families, at a semi-formal party Saturday night at the Ma sonic temple. Music will be pro vided by Ernie Traxler's orches tra from 9 p.m. to midnight. Re freshments will be served by a committee headed by Mrs. A. B. Snider. Proceeds from the affair will be used for the purchase of tur keys for Thanksgiving and Christ mas dinners at the Shriners' hos pital for crippled children, in Port land, it wus announced. Tickets have been mailed by a committee head by Mrs. J. A. Dudrey, and they will also be available at the door. The affair is being snonsor- ed by the Central Oregon Shrine ciun, assisted by members of oth er Masonic bodies.
