New York stocks dropped 1 to 5 ,' points to new lows since July 3 in the most active trading since August 3. Shingle Nail in Egg Is Displayed in Bend An egg penetrated by a shingle nail, but not otherwise damaged, was dis played in Bend today by D. B. Stuart of the Deschutes Farmers' Ware house. The egg was brought to Bend bv Mrs. William Carr of route No. 2. Whether the egg was laid with the nail in place or whether is struck a loose nail in the nest was a matter of guess.
