Baxter Is Released Under Bond of $3,000 Lowrcnco Lemy Baxter, who was indicted this month by n Deschutes county grand jury on a charge of rape, was released today when he rosled a bail bond of $3,000. The bond was originally set at $5,000 nnd was reduced at the request of Bax ter's attorney, H. II. DcArmond. Baxter has entered a plea 'of not guilty to the charge. Approvul of tho sureties, Alwyn F. Man Jumps Into Flock of Ducks, All Escape Patrolman Harris Mcagber was called to Drake park Saturday eve ning at 7 p. m., to investigate a re port that a man was trying to catch ducks by wading out into the water and arrived just in time to discover Wilber E. Larson, CCC enrotlee, jumping into a flock of ducks and geese being fed on the lawn by'park visitors, according to information from officers. Larson was cited to appear in court on an intoxication charge. Officer Meagher reported that the youth leaped into the air and came down in the center of the waterfowl without injuring a single bird. Others arrested on intoxication charges over the week end were Fred U Thompson, Edgar E. Bernard, Phil Taylor, Charles L. Little. Joseph M. Holland, Buck Triplett, E. McPhcr son and Robert E. Wilson. Holland was cited on a charge of operating a car while under the influence of intoxicants. Elk Lake Regatta Is Scheduled on Sunday - The first leg of the annual Elk lake regatta was sailed Sunday, with 11 boats competing on the mile-high course. The next leg is scheduled for 1 o'clock next Sunday afternoon and the final race at 3 o'clock the same afternoon. - The boats are awarded points on the order in which they finish.
