Portland The sawmill at Pres cott on the Columbia river resumed culling last week after being down j since early July, and the Winchester Hay Lumber company's mill at lleedsport will reopen this week, it Is reported. Logging activity re mains unchanged from last week. , Jobs listed on local employment boards are chiefly for hop pickers, rigging men, construction laborers ' and concrete workers. Not many idle men In this city. Kaymond. Wash. Two camps of the Sunset Timber company on the Hnymond-l'hchalls line of the Mil waukee railroad will resume logging this week. Kmployment conditions in Raymond and South Bend are good aud there are practically no un employed men on the harbor. Aberdeen-Hotiuiam Few job of any kind were offered laat week. Sawmills continue active but there has been no further resumption of logging. There are more men than jobs on Cray harbor. Tacoma Favorable employment conditions prevail in Tacoma and district. There is practically no sur- plus of common labor and some kind uf skilled help are ditfirull to obtain. I Seattle Logging activity haa picked up somewhat in the past week but nol more than 05 per cent of camps in the Central Sound district are operating. There i a slight sur plus of loggers in Seattle but job are not readily snapped up. Local sawmill help is well employed. The several hydro-electric construction projects iu Mason and Skagit coun ties are n?aring completion and these have let out part of their crews. Jobs for hop pickers and blackberry pickers have been listed on employment boards In increasing numbers. Everett Supply of men here is about eg.ual to demand. All mills are running. Logging is SO per cent of capacity. Belllngham Logging in this vicin ity has gradually been resumed aud 85 per cent of the campa are now operating. The new sawmill of the Puget Sound Sawmills A Shingle company will start cutting aboil' September 1. Practically no ldlu men in Belllngham. Vancouver, B. C. Hundreds of men have been leaving dally tor the wheat harvest In the prairie prov inces and orders for help are iu ex cess of supply of men wanting work.
