Hin shaw asked the opening sessioij of the prohibition party convention liero today. Hlnshaw enumerated the planks the party had sponsored before the old parties had taken them up or they had been adopted without old party sponsorship. Among those for which he claimed credit to the pro hibition party were woman suffrage, civil service, direct election of sena tors, opposition to lotteries, opposi tion to white slave traffic, child labor luws, uniform marrige and di vorce laws and, above all, prohibi tion. Hinshaw told of the lost plank in the republican platform. "According to the testimony of William Alien" White and Reed Smoot," he said, "the resolution com mittee adopld a dry plank, but it was lost on the way to the conven tion. The entire convention adopted by unanimous vote a law enforce ment plank, but that plank was lost on the way from the national con vention to the republican party printing press and that declaration is missing from the official platform issued by the republican party head quarters."
