Alfalfa Is King
better known as the place where thousands of whitef aces roamed,
is being subdivided in small tracts to suit the purchaser, and on
practically your own terms. It consists of almost 2000 acres,
all level, all improved, no stone, plenty of water for irrigation
and domestic purposes, some of the rest seeded to grain. This
land, properly seeded to alfalfa and taken care of, will pay for
itself in four years, but you can have 10 or 20 if you desire. It
is not money we want, but we do want men with families ; want
you to move right on the land and harvest the crop this season,

The land is situated 16 miles northeast of Bend, near the
Powell Buttes, which is considered the most favored locality,, for
the production of alfalfa in Central Oregon. , It is nothing un
common to harvest four tons of alfalfa or clover in one year,
and as a side line a" few acres of potatoes, carrots and all other
root crops will do well.
I own an alfalfa ranch near this land, and I want to tell you
right now that the man who gets it will have to pay me $150
per acre, as I am now getting more than 10 per cent, interest
on that amount every year from crops harvested thercoff, and
the land is gradually getting better. I shall be pleased to show
you this big ranch, however, while it lasts, at a price ranging
from $75 to $100 an acre.

your experience as a farmer is to be considered by myself above
the amount of cash you have. References as to your honesty
and as a neighbor will also be considered. I expect to colonize
this tract in such a manner that it will be a credit to Central
Oregon, as well as to the community and myself. There i a
good school and church nearby; we also expect to organize a
literary society, have regular correspondents to our home papers
in fact, there will be everything that goes to make the rural
life pleasant, thereby making your children love the farm home
and fireside.
