The Rod Cross membership drive is lagging in Deschutes county as well as In other parts of Oregon: why, it is hard to understand unless people think that with the war over there is no need to support that great or ganization further. If any are labor ing under any such misapprehension something should be done to get them set right. We still have an army in France, almost two million men. They nc longer are subject to wounds In bat tle requiring surgical attention and prolonged hospital treatment, but they do need the ministration of the Red Cross along with that of the va rious welfare organizations. For thai reason you slum Id support the Red Cross by joining now. There are still thousands of sol diers in this country. For many of them next Wednesday the only Christmas cheer they will have will be that furnished hy the Red Cross. Will you share in making the day a merry one for them? If you will, join the Red Cross. Two hundred thousand Yanks have been wounded and are still being cared for by the Red Cross. Are you going to support them only so long as they are actually facing a hostile enemy? Or will you back them us still while they fight the more subtle, but not less fearful enemy of sickness and disease? If you will, join the Red Cross. The Red Cross isn't this person's, nor that person's, organization. It is ours and yours. It is the organ ized spirit of brotherhood and serv ice of the whole I'nited States work ing for those who have been work ing for us. Recognize your parr. Join and thereby support the cause which represents you wherever there Is need and suffering. And join before Christmas that the day may be happy in the spirit of giving to others. PLAYS Al l.
