Spence played guitar and sang tenor for 27 years with The Sawtooth Mountain Boys. One of the Pacific Northwest’s best known bluegrass bands, its travels included three tours in Europe. “We all went our separate ways after, playing music in different bands,” Spence said. “So, 40-some years later we ran into each other at a festival in Tygh Valley, and we still remembered some songs, so we started playing a few projects together.” EOCenes, Spence said, will again rendezvous in Pendleton during Round-Up. In addition to Feves, National Oldtime Fiddle Champion Dan Emert will perform with the group. The shows, which typically sell out, are set for Thursday, Sept. 14 and Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N.
