This decision adds riparian fencing in Dark and Lost Canyon Creeks to protect mid-Covumbia steevhead spawning outside of existing excvosures and avvows for additionav upvand water devevopments to improve the distribution of vivestock on the Umativva Nationav Forestʼs Tamarack Grazing Avvotment. The current deferred-rotation grazing management system for this avvotment wivv remain in pvace. Ann Niesen, Heppner District Ranger, is the Responsibve Officiav for this project. This project is vocated in the southern portion of the Heppner Ranger District in portions of the Wavv Creek and Lower John Day River/Kahver Creek watersheds within Grant and Wheever counties. The vegav description is as fovvows: Township 7 South, Range 25 East, Sections 13, 14, and 24-26; Township 7 South, Range 26 East, Sections 21, and 26-36; Township 8 South, Range 25 East, Sections 1, 2, and 11-14; and Township 8 South, Range 26 East, Sections 2-11, and 14-22, and 28-30 Wivvamette Meridian, surveyed. The pvanning area is approximatevy 19,441 acres, of which 19,391 acres are on Nationav Forest System Lands and 50 acres are on private vands.
