RECORDS Friday, April 14, 2017 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG WEDNESDAY •A rash of vehicle eggings was reported in Milton-Freewater, involving vehicles in the 1500 block of Wilkenson, 800 block of College Street, 100 block of West Orchard Street and the vicinity of North Main Street and Northeast Fifth Avenue. 3:00 a.m. - A resident of Idaho Lane, Irrigon, reported someone on a four-wheeler had been making a race track loop through his property since 1 a.m. Morrow County sheriff’s deputies responded but were unable to find the four-wheeler or its driver. 8:05 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office was advised that a resident of West Willow View Drive, Heppner, ran off a woman that was standing in her front yard. The caller said the woman was driving a white older model pickup with Idaho plates. 8:37 a.m. - A resident of West Joseph Avenue, Hermiston, reported the theft of a gold chain. 9:32 a.m. - Stanfield police responded to Chelsea Lane after a call from a resident whose 50-year-old son was out of control and throwing things around. Police returned to the home at 6:22 p.m. for a second disturbance call. 9:51 a.m. - An employee at the Long Branch Cafe and Saloon, 201 E. Main St., Weston, reported gas was siphoned from her gas tank sometime early in the morning. She requested contact from a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy at the business. A second theft was reported at 9:57 a.m., this time at the shop at the Weston Cemetery. 10:27 a.m. - Drone activity was reported at a residence on Canal Road, Hermiston. The caller said a drone is flying and hovering over her property several times a day, and wanted to know her options. 10:43 a.m. - The Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter, 517 S.E. Third St., reported theft. 12:20 p.m. - Hermiston police were called to the BottleDrop Redemption Center, 740 W. Hermiston Ave., after an allegedly intoxicated man in a large blue pickup ran into the building. 12:33 p.m. - Pendleton police investigated a theft report at Pendleton High School. 12:34 p.m. - Mail fraud was reported by a resident of North Townsend Road, Hermiston. 2:36 p.m. - An assault was reported on Northwest Fourth Street, Pendleton. 4:48 p.m. - A senior law enforcement specialist with the Humane Society of the United States received a tip about a possible dog fighting ring in a barn along Highway 206 south of Heppner. When she investigated, she saw chains hanging from a tree, a dog in the barn and cages stacked inside. She requested Morrow County sheriff’s deputies investigate the barn. 6:05 p.m. - A woman trespassed from the Irrigon Shell Station, 300 S.E. Highway 730, returned to the station asking for money. The woman told a gas attendant that “she would regret working there.” An employee of the station requested contact from a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy. 6:21 p.m. - Hermiston police were called to the parking lot of Safeway, 990 S. Highway 395, after an anonymous caller asked for a welfare check on a homeless man who was standing in the rain and screaming. 7:17 p.m. - A passerby reported a man inside his car in the north part of the Weston Cemetery talking on his cell phone, with the vehicle’s trunk open. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office investigated. 8:56 p.m. - A Hermiston man who just moved into Village East Apartments, 300 E. Dogwood Ave., reported three men wearing dark clothes knocked on his door and by the time he opened it they were walking away with a woman in a white coat, but they left a white rock in front of his door. His neighbors told him that his apartment is being marked, and he requested contact from a Hermiston police officer because he is not sure what is going on. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Oregon State Police cited a 17-year-old Hermiston man for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol) and released him to his parents. IN UNIFORM U.S. Air Force Airman Blake S. Kannier graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Anto- nio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Kannier completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, phys- ical fitness, and basic warfare princi- ples and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits Kannier toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Kannier is the son of Wyndi C. and Lesly S. Kannier of Pendleton, and a 2016 graduate of Pilot Rock High School. HONORS Evan Lake named to honor society BATON ROUGE, La. — Evan Lake of Pendleton was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Lake was initiated at Saint Martin’s University, Lacey, Wash. Lake is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
