RECORDS Wednesday, February 15, 2017 East Oregonian OBITUARIES PUBLIC SAFETY LOG Maxine Marie Marcum Troy Elmore McGowan Hermiston May 5, 1959-February 12, 2017 Boardman April 12, 1926-February 12, 2017 Maxine Marie Marcum of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on May 5, 1959, in Hermiston, Oregon, to parents Harold and Thelma Girvin Marcum. She died on February 12, 2017, in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 57 years. Maxine went to school in Stanfield, Oregon, graduating from Oregon Trail High School in 1977 and then attending Blue Mountain Commu- nity College for one year. She loved playing volleyball and tennis through her high school and college years. After college, Maxine went to work for Pendleton Grain Growers in the Hermiston Marcum office where she performed clerical duties for many years. She later worked for Banner Bank in the processing center. Maxine became a foster caregiver around 2010/2011 to a long- time friend and continued helping him until her own health declined. Maxine was a generous, loving, and caring person who would do anything for any friend or family member. Outside of family time she loved making quilts, trips to the beach and baking for people she loved. She is survived by her 10 brothers: Dennis and wife Linda, Plymouth, Wash., Eldon, Stanfield, Mike and wife Rosie, Hermiston, Gary and wife Carol, Hermiston, Kirk, Stanfield, John and wife Charlene, Echo, Dean and wife Lawrie, Stanfield, Lloyd, Hermiston, Wes and wife DeeDee, Walla Walla, Wash., and Phil, Echo; five sisters: Donna Kennedy and husband Delbert, Hermiston, Judy Fazette and husband Bud, Hast- ings, Mich., Kathy Findley and husband Ron, Ontario, Jennie Clymer, Stanfield, and Norma Kightlinger and husband Mark, La Grande; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great- nephews, one uncle and two aunts. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel, Hermiston, Oregon. First St. 9:26 a.m. - A Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy responded to East Theater Lane and Northeast 10th Street, Hermiston, for an oven in the middle of the road. 9:40 a.m. - An Irrigon man on Southwest Nevada Avenue complained about pit bull dogs running loose and charging people. He said he was concerned for the safety of children waiting for the bus and wanted law enforcement to contact him before he has to shoot one of the dogs. 11:49 a.m. - A man asked to talk to Hermiston police about accusations his brother is making against him. 1:56 p.m. - Pendleton police responded to an emer- gency report of a male standing on the 10th Street bridge “like he is going to jump off.” 2:29 p.m. - A woman in Boardman told police a man she knows threatened to come to her workplace and beat her and would take her daughter. 3:18 p.m. - A caller on East Juniper Avenue, Hermiston, told law enforcement there may be stolen property inside the garage. 3:18 p.m. - A Hermiston officer stopped at Northeast Fourth Street and East Jennie Avenue to deal with some at-large puppies. 5:02 p.m. - A Pilot Rock man on Southeast Douglas Street told police his neighbor down the road is harassing him. 5:26 p.m. - A caller told Pendleton police someone broke into her storage locker at Southwest Frazer Avenue and 16th Street, and some items there are not hers. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office at 9:52 a.m. responded to the Morrow Education Center, 240 Columbia Lane, Irrigon, where the principal reported an intruder was in the school and left. That led deputies to arrest Shannon Dale Taylor, 46, of Hermiston, on multiple warrants.
