Page 6A COMMUNITY East Oregonian Wednesday, October 19, 2016 PENDLETON Deadline looms for workplace safety awards Musical revue showcases Rodgers and Hammerstein SALEM — Organizations and individuals who make exceptional contributions to workplace health and safety will be recognized during the Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Conference. Nominations are being accepted for category awards in workplace safety programs, associations, safety committees, safety and health advocates (individual and teams), labor representatives, and safety and health professionals. Nomina- tions are due by Sunday. The awards will be presented during a special luncheon during the conference, which is March 6-9 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. A concert revue on the life and work of Oscar Hammer- stein II and music co-written with Richard Rodgers will serve as a beneit for the Blue Mountain Community College Foundation. An original production conceived, written and directed by musician and BMCC music instructor Margaret Mayer, “Hammer- stein” will be presented Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bob Clapp Theatre, located in Pioneer Hall at BMCC, 2411 N.W. Carden Ave., Pendleton. General admission tickets are $10, students are $5, BMCC students with ID are free and family pricing is $30 for four or more.
