Curry back at practice still unlikely to play OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Golden State superstar Stephen Curry zipped around the court bouncing from spot to spot during his typical extensive post-prac- tice shooting routine, driving to the basket past his regular practice coach Bruce Fraser. Curry FACES looked much like his healthy self except for a brace covering his injured right knee. He returned Curry to practice Friday to test his sprained knee and was strong in his lateral movement though the team didn’t scrimmage at all. And the Warriors still considered him doubtful to play in Saturday’s Game 3 of the Western Conference semifi nals at Portland. Coach Steve Kerr reiterated Friday that Curry was unlikely to play despite going through part of practice. Kerr was surprised to see reports of Curry being ruled out based on a radio interview he had “You’d need a hockey stick for the 3-2 pitch.“ — John Farrell Boston Red Sox manag- er after he and David Ortiz were thrown out after arguing strike calls during the ninth inning of Boston’s 3-2 loss to the New York Yankees on Friday night. Sophomore strikes out 15, drives in two runs as Pendleton clinches CRC title By MATT ENTRUP East Oregonian Staff photo by Kathy Aney Pendleton coach Tim Cary has seen what it looks like on the receiving end of a Lauren Richards pitch, so he could feel a little empathy for what the Hood River Valley hitters were dealing with Friday in their softball game at Steve Cary Field. No sympathy though. Much to the delight of her Softball coach, the sopho- more righty struck out 15 batters and guided Pendleton Hood River to a 3-2 win in eight innings to clinch a fi fth-straight Columbia River Conference title Pendleton for the Buckaroos. “She came in looking pretty sharp at the begin- ning of the year and she’s gotten stronger and stronger and stronger,” Cary said. “She’s hitting her spots very well and she has just amazing movement on the ball. … That’s why she has so many strikeouts. It’s hard to put a bat on, sometimes it’s hard to put a mitt on.” Richards’ dominance in the circle was just one of her huge contribu- tions to the victory, though, and she also drove in older sister Ellie Richards for the game-winning run with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth.
