Seahawks sign
nine draft picks
RENTON, Wash. (AP) —
The Seattle Seahawks have
signed nine of their 10 draft
picks, including fi rst-round
pick
offensive
lineman
Germain
Ifedi and
second-round pick defensive
tackle Jarran Reed.
Seattle announced the
draft pick signings along
with the signing of 13
undrafted rookie free agents
before the start of its rookie
minicamp on Friday.
Seattle’s undrafted
free agent signings are
highlighted by TCU
quarterback Trevone
Boykin. Also on the list is
Colorado State cornerback
DeAndre Elliott, Oregon
defensive end Christian
French, Rutgers linebacker
Steve Longa, USC running
back Tre Madden and Ohio
State safety Tyvis Powell.
Curry back at
practice still
unlikely to play
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)
— Golden State superstar
Stephen Curry zipped
around the court bouncing
from spot to spot during his
typical extensive post-prac-
tice shooting routine, driving
to the basket past his regular
practice coach Bruce Fraser.

He returned

to practice
Friday to test his sprained
knee and was strong in his
lateral movement though
the team didn’t scrimmage
at all. And the Warriors still
considered him doubtful to
play in Saturday’s Game 3
of the Western Conference
semifi nals at Portland.
Coach Steve Kerr
reiterated Friday that Curry
was unlikely to play despite
going through part of
practice. Kerr was surprised
to see reports of Curry
being ruled out based on
a radio interview he had

The Pendleton Buckaroos gave
the Hood River Eagles everything
they had on Tuesday afternoon.
The Buckaroos scored six runs
on the Eagles — one short of the
seven combined scored through
the fi rst three games, they pounded
out eight hits against Hood River’s
No. 1 starting pitcher, and they
played one of their most solid and
cleanest defensive performances of

the season.
But ultimately it wasn’t enough.
The Eagles took advantage of
a seventh-inning fi elding error by
Pendleton’s Wyatt Morris to push
across two runs in the inning to
clinch a 7-6 victory at Bob White
Field. The win also clinched the
Columbia River Conference title for
the Eagles.

Pendleton coach Tim Cary
has seen what it looks like on the
receiving end of a Lauren Richards
pitch, so he could feel a little
empathy for what the Hood River
Valley hitters were dealing with
Friday in their softball game at Steve
Cary Field.
No sympathy though.

for the Buckaroos.
“She came in
looking
pretty
sharp at the begin-
ning of the year and she’s gotten
stronger and stronger and stronger,”
Cary said. “She’s hitting her spots
very well and she has just amazing
movement on the ball. … That’s
why she has so many strikeouts. It’s
hard to put a bat on, sometimes it’s
hard to put a mitt on.”
Richards’ dominance in the circle
was just one of her huge contribu-
tions to the victory, though, and
she also drove in older sister Ellie
Richards for the game-winning run
with a walk-off single in the bottom
of the eighth.

NYSSA — The Stanfi eld Tigers
added to their list of no-hitters this
season by throwing two more of
them against Nyssa on Friday to
sweep the Bulldogs with 14-1 and
14-0 wins.
Dylan Grogan threw a no-hitter
in game one of a doubleheader for
Stanfi eld (22-2, 10-0 EOL), and the
trio of Brody Woods, Tony Flores,
and Ryan Bailey combined for a
second in game two.
“It’s kind of remarkable, I
haven’t seen anything like that,”
said Stanfi eld coach Bryan Johnson
of the back-to-back no-hitters.
“One of the biggest things we’ve
been trying to improve over the last
couple years is getting our strike
counts up.”
Grogan was dominant in game
one, striking out 13 batters over six
innings, with the lone blemishes
being two walks and an unearned
run scoring against him. In game
two, Woods started the game and
went three innings allowing just one
walk with fi ve strikeouts. Flores
and Bailey each threw an inning in
relief, combining for three strike-
outs and one walk.
At the plate, the Tigers cranked
out 26 hits on the day, led by Tyhler
Monkus, Grogan, Keith Wampler
and Damien Curiel as they each
contributed four hits apiece. Tony
Flores led the team with six RBI,
and Justin Keeney led the team with
fi ve runs scored in the game.
Stanfi eld clinched the East
Oregon League title and a state
tournament berth with the wins, and
will fi nish off the regular season on
Friday when they travel to Joseph
for a doubleheader.
