Through Thursday, March 3, the restaurant will donate $1 to the museum for every kid’s meal purchased. In addition, it will match any donations made at the eatery, up to $500. The restaurant is located at 1515 Southgate, Pendleton. The budget shortfall is the result of a change in funding priorities of three regular museum supporters, which resulted in a GH¿FLW IRU /LNH many small town children’s museums, CMEO struggles each year to keep its doors open, said Heidi Anderson, museum director. While utilization of the museum has increased, admis- sions revenue doesn’t provide enough for operating expenses. The Children’s Museum of Eastern Oregon began in 1996 with a mission to provide children of all ages with opportunities for educational exploration and development through interactive exhibits and play. It was created through the collaborative efforts of more than 300 community volunteers. It is the only children’s museum in Eastern Oregon, providing a unique resource to Pendleton and the surrounding communities. The museum is located at 400 S. Main St., Pendleton. Brittney Corrigan was raised in Colorado and holds a degree from Reed College in Portland. She is the poetry editor for the online journal Hyperlexia: poetry and prose about the autism spectrum. In addition, her poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. Corrigan will read from her new work Thursday at 7 p.m. at Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St. The event also includes a short open mic for audience members. First Draft is free and open to the public. In her poetry collection “Navigation,” Corrigan enters the unchartered waters where she must establish the way not only for herself, but for her child with autism. Also, Corrigan describes “Daughters,” the new manuscript she’s working on, as a series of persona poems that re-imagine characters from mythology, folklore, fairy tales and pop culture from the perspective of their daughters.
