He presently is going to school at the University of Oregon at Eugene seeking his masters degree, and in recent years has been an accountant at Roseburg. 25 Years Ago From the East Oregonian Jan. 28, 1991 Nearly 70 people walked in a procession through downtown Pendleton Saturday, wearing ribbons and toting signs with anti-war slogans. Afterwards participants sang songs of peace and spoke against war in the Middle East. Organizers called it the “Peace Walk.” Participants of all ages walked through Pendleton’s core area quietly, many of them with their children and some with their dogs. Organizer Charlie Briggs started the “open mike” period by saying people joined the walk with varying degrees of sentiment about the war and U.S. military involvement in the Middle East. But most of the speakers condemned the use of force to reach political resolutions and derided the American people’s acceptance of violence as a way to settle disputes.
