She said the wrecked box prevented the postal worker from delivering the mail. $PDQDWSPWROGWKH8PDWLOOD&RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FH that semis hauling wheat are driving over the bridge on Birch Creek Road and exceeding the bridge’s weight limits. •A Weston man at 12:43 p.m. reported sometime during the night someone shot his 22-foot-long camper trailer with paint balls. He asked for a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy to contact him. •A locust tree sometime before 3 p.m. fell and blocked the roadway on Upper Dry Creek, Weston. •An Adams resident at 3:55 p.m. reported receiving threatening text messages from a person she does not know, but the cause of the problem may be from not being a friend to a particular person on Facebook. The caller also said she saved the text messages and will show those to a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy. •An Echo resident on West Bridge Street at 5:27 p.m. reported a neighbor driving a white, full-sized pickup often runs a stop sign. The caller also agreed to sign a complaint. •A Hermiston-area resident at 6:09 p.m. reported he believes his son stole his jewelry last week. •A woman at 7:08 p.m. asked Pendleton police to check on the welfare of her grandchildren. She said their home is dirty with food and dishes everywhere and no water to the house. •An Athena resident in the process of moving from West Lincoln Street told law enforcement at 8:55 p.m. someone broke into his two sheds in the back yard. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •A pair of Milton-Freewater teens found out Oregon’s new recreational marijuana law does not extend to juveniles. An Oregon State Police trooper stopped a Honda Civic for not having headlights on at 10:36 p.m. at Highway 339 and Northwest Eight Avenue, Milton-Freewater. The trooper smelled marijuana in the car, and the 18-year-old driver handed over a small bud. The trooper than found another roughly 3.5 ounces of pot. Measure 91, which went into effect July 1, allows people 21 and older to possess certain amounts of marijuana. The trooper therefore arrested the driver, Jose Oliva of Milton-Freewater, for possession of pot, and cited the 17-year-old male passenger for the same. Court: Cops need more than general concern to ask about guns PORTLAND (AP) — The Oregon Supreme Court says police must have a good reason to ask people they stop if they have a weapon. The high court Thursday threw out an unlaw- ful-weapon conviction of a 19-year-old man who was stopped for jaywalking by an Oregon State Police trooper in Portland.
