Local Kiwanis members give park a face-lift Photo contributed by Linda Neuman The Kiwanis Club of Pendleton participated in project at Kiwanis Park as part of Kiwanis One Day, a day of service by Kiwanis clubs across the globe. The Kiwanis Club of Pendleton joined thousands of others around the world as part of the April 11 Kiwanis One Day. The local group worked on improving the livability of Pendleton by cleaning up, installing impact mats and replacing bark dust at Kiwanis Park. The global day of service unites the entire Kiwanis family, which includes Key Club, Circle K and others. It is estimated that Kiwanis One Day contributed nearly one million service hours around the world. Linda Neuman, Pend- leton club president, said the local group was proud to join the effort. “The energy, commitment and camaraderie surrounding this single day made the Heli[ student Tuali¿es for FBLA nationals Tucker Wilson of Griswold +LJK 6FKRRO SODFHG ¿UVW LQ Impromptu Speaking during the state FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) compe- tition, making him eligible to compete in the national competition June 28-July 2 in Chicago. The 2015 Kiwanis One Day takes on extra meaning as Kiwanis celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Kiwanis started in 1915 as a business professionals club, but quickly adopted serving individual communities as its primary focus.
