The girls have fewer athletes returning, but have at least one that enters the season as a top district contender. Kelly Wilson was top five in triple and long jump, and brings back the No. 1 and 2 marks, respectively, in the CBC in those events this year. The other three, Nino Castellanos (100 meter sprint), Felipe Rodgriguez (pole vault) and Joseph Valadez (javelin) all graduated, leaving holes in the Tigers’ pro- gram. We’re going to focus on person goals this season.” Key to the season: As a former hurdler at Pilot Rock and then Eastern Oregon University, Phil King was enthused to find a strong interest in the event at his alma mater upon taking his first head coaching gig. “We have four hurdlers, which surprised me for a school the size of Pilot Rock,” said the 2007 graduate. “That was pretty exciting when I got here, because that’s obviously my specialty.” His hurdlers especially, but also the entire team, will fo- cus on building solid technique before they worry about any postseason goals. But jumper Devin Hasher, who split sports last spring, will focus on track this year and is one athlete with big expec- tations. 2015 Schedule Thu., March 19 Fri., April 3 Sat., April 11 Fri., April 17 Thu., April 23 Sat.
