Hut the Hears Xevor came. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Green nnd son, and A. C. Funk and C. C. Proebstcl. returned Saturday from a tour ot Yellowstone park. They declare they had a good time, and incidentally, thay added to the stock of nature stories by reciting several. Proebstel tells one about Mr. Green sitting up with a lantern for several hours when they camped in a vicinity where the bears wero reported to be very good foragers. The lantern was left burn ing all night, but of course, Mr. Creen didn't keep up -his vigil after bed time. A bull moose also thrent ened the jieace of a. party of three eolnposed of Proebstel, Green and Jack Allen. While the trio was un der some trees for a shower to spend itself, the moose acted as if he'd like to see how hard h might strike, but he changed h's mind, and there were no casualties reported. that is automatically fed to him a lit tie warmer -or vice versa without upsetting his neighbor. A' maze of pipes beneath th floor of-tho chamber connects the air inlets and outlets with a room full of won derful machinery in the sub-basement, including large but noiseless fans, water sprays, thermometers, lyna mos. pol shed gauges, and a network of brass control pipes. Through the agency of this ma chinery the climatic conditions of any country in the world can be Introduc ed into the council chamber and the large committee room. A remarkable feature of (he. ven tilating apparatus is thHit tho effect of a sudden change in the outside torn perature is immediately and automat ically conveyed to the sens'tive Instru ments in the sub-basement, so that they promptly adiust their efforts to ward maintaining an even tempera ture inside. A fall of rain on the roof, or a spell of sunshine, are felt by the instru ments, and they act arcordingly. More remarkable still is tlie .fact that a single member coming Into the council chnnibor when overheated automatically effects Hie entrance 01 an additional proportion of cuol nir ,10 naiance the minute change.
