tional Hankers' Service company of
Chicago in wh;ch Information as to
the whereabouts of John Mabnl Mc
Faul is sought. "We have same in
formation dedldedly advantageous, but
mail addressed to him is being re
turned," the letter received by Judge
Fitz Gerald states.
Grand Chaplain to Visit
Eev. John nysart, grand chaplain of
the. Elks lodge, will be the guest of
the Pendleton lodge August 30. ac
cording to information that ha3 been
received here. He will cne to Pen
dleton as the direct representative of
the grand exalted ruler. Special plans
are being made fur his entertainment
while he is here.
Aged Nhoophcidcr lties
Henry Miller, well known by sheep
men of Umatilla county, died this
Tll(.l morning at 6 o'clock at St. Anthony's
auspnai louowing an extended Illness
caused by paralysis. He was a native
of Germany but came to America as a
young man. He worked for many
years for the Yeys and the Cimha
outfits near Echo. The remains will
be taken to Echo for Interment. The
funeral services will be held there tot j
morrow afternoon.

forfeited bail of $10 on a charge of
being intoxicated. F. L. Girtof was

The Northwestern, stamer charter

& Co. saddlery was pensioned today.

has served as a sign at the saddlery
has been taken from his stand in front
of the building and is to be replaced
by an electric device. The exterior of
the store is being: re-painted in antici
pation of the coming Rdund-Up and
the Interior will be brushed up also,

Hotel Adds Annex
In line with., the general Improve
ment program for the Hotel Dorian,
work began today on the Hotel Dor
ian Annex, in the Temple building.
An archway will connect .the annex
with the second floor of the hotel and
will add 13 additional rooms to the 5 3
in the present quarters. The annex
will Include also the offices of Dr. I.
I". Temple, owner of the hotel, Dr. W.
H. Reynolds, Dr. R. B. Brundage and
E. T. Wade. Dr. Temple returned yes
terday from Portland whore he pur
chased modern furniture for tho addi
tion. The other rooms of the hotel
have been thoroughly renovated and
the hostlery has been greatly improv

ing all night, but of course, Mr.
