After reciting the virtues of the departed sheriff, the resolutions con cluded: . "Resolved. That we. the members and organization of the Portland Ad club, hereby express our unanimous lament at his passing; our whole hearted appreciation of his public ser vice and the thrilling' pride that we honestly heel in his record as our public-spirited fellow citizen; alj with the same unstinted measure that he taught us to pour out, by the last su preme gift he placed upon the altar of his native state, and that we herewith tender our full sympathy to his strick en widow, mother atid family and to our sister organization, the Pendleton Commercial club."
