The week showed the Portland market In the highest position of all leading livestock markets In the en tire country. The trade here has been greutly stimulated recently by the cooler weather and In the face of this receipts decreasd from the to tal of 8139 last week to 5105 for the present week. General hog market range: Best light $7.5007.60 Medium light 7 4007.45 Good to heavy 7-25 Rough and heavy .75f?7.00 Stockera 6 6.00 M0 Cattle price Are Aided. Offerings of cattle at North Port land were smallest for the last six days than for many years during a like period. The decreased arrivals gave the market a very strong tone. Even the poorere grade stock sold hifher while during the last few weeks such stuff showed absolute i.eglect. Tup steers sold around $7.60 during the week's trade and killers quickly snapped up bet quality at this price. Cattle market conditions In the east were somewhat less favorable during the week. While prices showed little r.ct change for best quality, ordinary offerings are otf.
