Ppencer, who hns been sick with lagrlppe tor a few days, Is now much better. The Rebekah lodge met Thursday evening. A good crowd attended. After the business was transacted re freshments were served. Miss Fern Edwards and Miss Auv gusta Stockton went to Walla Walla Saturday as delegates to the con vention from the young people's so ciety. Miss Frances Simmons Intermediate teacher of this town went to Pendle ton Wednesday evening. The Adams band met Thursday evening with their Instructor Mr. Lon dell of Athena. Reports from the eVffercnt members show they are do ir very good. A large crowd attended and all had a good time. John Adams one of the nearby farmers was In town this week. The skaters of Adams met Friday evening and had a very good time. It was announced that there will be a masquerade Friday, November 27. All skaters are asked to mask. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Lleuallen mo tored to Fendleton Wednesday. Joe Payant was In town Thursday. O. M. Thompson and wife mad a trip to Helix this week in their new Ford car. Archie Mclntyre was a visitor at Walla Walla this week. Walter MeCormmach was In Ad ams this week. He also made a trip to Helix to visit a friend. Sanford Stone Is working the road north of Adams. Sullivan Reamer has a friend, J. A. Pagwell. visiting h!m. They drove to the county seat this week. John Molstrom met with an acci dent yesterday while driving In his car through the dense fog he struck Fred Embysk's team. One horse was In jured and Mr. Molstrom's car was badly damaged. T. B. Slmonton motored to the county seat this week to do some shopping. Ike Christopher mndc a trip to Ad ams this week to get some freight and to do some shopping. Dave Nelson made a trip to his ranch In his car to see how things were getting along. Mrs. Walter Plantlg was the guest of Mrs John Molstrom this week. William Johnson was In Helix this week to do some shopping. He made the trip In his Hudson car. Rev. Tarker was In Adams this week. The Ladles" Club will hold Its next meeting at the home of Mrs. Frank Henry. A Sunday school was organized at the Finn district school house Sun day Nov. 15. Mlsa Winnie Bayley the school teacher Is the superintend ent. There were sixteen chatter members. Literature and song books have been ordered and a portion of the supplies will be ready for next Sunday. Parents as well as the chil dren are taking great Interest. It Is probable that the enrollment will ex ceed thirty. Latent Power Shown. SALEM. Or., Nov. 20. Plans for the development of water at 18 sites on the Deschutes River are outlined In a report by the United States Geo logical Survey, a copy of which was received here, Tho Information was gathered by State Engineer Lewis and the report wns prepared by him, F. F. Henshaw district engineer of the Geological Survey and E, J. McCaustland. They ay that 604,000 horsepower could be developed at 14 site on the Des chutes River and 98.000 at four oft the Metollus River. The report con sists of 2000 pages with Illustrations und diagrams. The Ba ker high school football team, which defeated the Pendleton high team 13 t 0 a week ago, yesterday triumphed iver Boi.se high In this city. 14 to 0. A thrilling 60-yard run by Fleetwood, li.iker's spectacular quarterback, gave a touchdown to the Baker champions In the first quarter of the game. Fleetwood then kicked goal, giving Baker seven points. The score at the end of the first quarter was Baker 7. Boise 0. Baker presented a stiff defense against Robe and showed superior teamwork and better offensive. The second quarter was scoreless, the half ending 7 to 0 for Baker. It was a punting duel with poorly exe cuted forward passes featuring the formation plays. Bnker scored a touchdown on slrnight football in the third quarter and kicked goal from a hard angle Score. Baker 14. Boise 0. The fourth quarter was scoreless- Boise's team was counted as a strong organization than has gone on the field for this city this year. Turner and sons returned from Walla Walla Wednesday after having spent a few days with Mrs. Turner In the St. Mary's hospital. Herman Wlebke has loaded a car of household goods and Is preparing to move to Cornelius. Oregon. Mrs. Wlebke and her mother have gone to that city and are awaiting his ar ilval. Coe Coffmnn of Milton, was In Wes ton Thursday on business. Joe Hodgson prominent farmer of this community. Is preparing to ship a car of hogs to the Portland mar kets. Mrs. N. Huberger of Reed and Hawley mountain was a visitor at the county seat during the week. Mrs. Fred Pitman returned to her home on Reed and Hawley mountain after having spent the past two weeks with her sister. Mrs. James Kil pore in Weston, receiving medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. King, formerly of Weston but who now reside In Hermiston are the happy parents of twins, a boy and a girl. J Mrs. Richard Morrison has moved her family In from the ranch to town for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Banister of Athena, made a visit to Weston dur ing the week. TURKS STIRRING UP UNREST IX TRIPOLI ROME, Nov. 18. Apparently the situation In Tripoli has suddenly be come serious, due primarily to the activity of Islamic agents endeavoring to stir up the tribes there against Italy. This development In the Tripolltan situation is being watched closely here, and It U not unlikely that the Turkish propaganda in Tripoli may finally be the means of drawing Italy lrto the war. The first detachment of E00 troops from the garrisons of Eritrea arrived H re en route for Tripoli, where they win be used to stengthen the Italian garrisons. Arrangements have been made to strengthen all the garrisons of Tripoli Materially.
