Carl, the three year old aon of Mr. and Mrs Henry Weltzlne was knocked down and run over by the rear wheel of a loaded wagon at the farm of his grand father, Jacob Rhode, eat of town. The wagon was loaded with llfty-flve sacks of barley and the wheel passed lengthwise over the child's body. No bones were broken but he Is In a critical condition. Dr. C, 8. The work of bringing the supply down was necessarily slow so as not to damage the pipe line by a rush of water. John Scott and C Jones, Hood River coun ty prisoners, who made two attempts to break out of the old Wasco coun ty Jail und were caught both times by Jailor Coleman, were sentenced at Hood River this week by Judge Bradshaw to serve from one to five years in the state penitentiary. The prisoners, when sentence was passed, complimented the Jailer for his vigilance.
