Harriet Ward waa heU Saturday afternoon at the Pres byterian Church, Bev, E. J. Faucett read the burial rite. Mra. Ward came to Oregon with her parenta In the early 60's. They flrt settled in Polk county. She came to Umatilla coun ty when but a young girl. Later he waa. married to Lout Ward who pawed away In March. She haa spent moat of her life In thla county. She leave three Ron, George L-, Charlea A. of Btanfleld. and R. E. Ward o. Echo. Mra. Ward went laat Wednes neaday evening; to vtatt her grand daughter, Mra. George Corae of Her mlMon, and waa taken suddenly Hi and died Thuniday afternoon. The remain were Interred In the cemetery at Echo beside her huiibund. The bereaved fam ily have the sympathy of a large cir cle of friend. . Senator C. A. Booth waa calling on the voter of thla place Saturday. Editor and Mrs. C. E, Miller are being felicitated on the arrival of a fine baby boy, both mother and son are doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fulton have a their guest A, M. Mile of Portland. McReynoIJ returned from Lehman Springs Tuesday where she has been spending her vacation. Charlie Kidwelt left Thursday for Missouri to spend the winter with his parents and relatives. Oilman Folsom of Pendleton Is in the city. Arthur Bond spent Monday at Pen dleton having some dental work done. James Truman, who has been In the employ of Roy & Done, black smiths, this summer, left the first of the week for his home in Arkansas. J. N. Burgess was a business visit or at Pendleton Monday.
