"Over 100J men are working along the right of way for the Idaho North ern Railroad company ror me ra clfic Coast construction company," siiid P. McD. Fuller, superintendent of the company, today, says an Item from Wallace, Idaho. "Tracklaylng has been going on for some time, and Is about a mile and a half from Ena vllle. The tracklaylng machine will he started about September 1. Over 600 men are working on the Enavllle end of tho line and 360 at the end near Murray. "We received a carload of draft horses from eastern Oregon last week and they are now at Enavllle. Some of them will be taken to Murray for use there. A special will leave Wal lace for Murray so we can have our Christmas turkey dinner there with out doubt. Good progresn Is being mode on the whole length of the line. Now that the right of way Is clear for fully S3 miles, and the railroad com pany has a clear title to the ground, work Is moving more rapidly. The road will be completed on scherule time." Horse and SmWlest Stolen. A telephone message was received at the sheriff's office yesterday that two young men had during some pe riod Friday night stolen two horses from the barn of James McGrath, the Lapwal meat market man, says the I'Wlston Tribune. It appears that Mr. McGrath had permitted the men to sleep in the barn. Mr. McGrath understood the men had gone to Cul desac and officers In that locality were notified. Later advices reached the city that the thieves stole two sorrel horses from Albert Moore, an Indian, and two saddles and two pairs of snaps from Judge Grant, another Indian. It was believed the men had started for the Salmon river section with the horses and a number of Indians have started on their trail. The young MICHIGAN HOLDING STATE PRIMARIES. Detroit. Lawton Hemans, the democrats candidate, will use as his chief cam paign argument the statement that "Michigan Is suffering under an ex cessive prolongation of one-party rule," and will urge that the best Irterests of the state demand a change In its political complexion. The ad vance guard of the 100,000 visitors expected In New Orleans during the month arrived today to witness the gala performances marking the open ing of the New Orleans and Inter state Manufacturers' exposition. This show Is the blgest commer cinl display of Its kind ever under taken In ths city and has created great interest throughout the south. Indian Clilld Rprncd to Death. The four-year-old child of Jessie Chief, a Nez Perce Indian, suffered burns this afternoon that caused her death, says an Item from Spalding. The fire occurred at the home of the Indian and was of mysterious origin. However, It Is believed It was due to the child playing with matches. Smoke was observed Issuing from the house and when parties rushed to the scene they found the child was hor ribly burned. The mother had evl dently been asleep and w;as In a daz ed condition. Tho child was hurried to Lapwal so that the services of Dr. Alley could be secured, but the in juries sustained were such that death shortly followed. Drive Out Undesirable. Thepctition of the town of Connell to clear out the undesirable element has borne fruit, and It remains to be seen whether the sheriff of the coun ty will carry out the instructions of the attorney in an order served on the sheriff and all of his deputies, says a Connell, wash., item. This move meets with the approval of all tho better element In the county. Un desirable citizens have been following construction camps along the line of the Spokane, Portland & Seattle rail way, and later were attracted by the harvest season. I"reak of Frcrwattt" Soil. As an evidence of the peculiarity of the formation of th Freewater lo cality, F. C. Greer, who Is having a well sunk on his ranch south of town, went down some 25 feet without se curing a supply of water and aban doned the well, but a few feet distant begun anther. When down about 10 feet Btruck a fine flowing vein of wa ter, evidently sufficient for his wants, says a Freewater item. A large delegation of Mexican bus iness men will also visit the exhibi tion.
