The surprise of the present harvest Is the splendid yield, comparatively speaking, on lands In the Vancyele and Helix dls trlcts, where the soil is light. From SO to 35 bushels per acre Is the re ported yields, whereas the famous reservation lands are yielding no more, and many fields are falling be low Zh bushels per acre. In the Athena district the average Is from au to 3s ousneis to me acre and a few fields have turned out 40 bushel. Ideal weather for harvesting has been In order since harvest first began. Only a few sales of wheat have been reported here, though the price for No. l wheat has reached 75 cents. while the most so far has been bring lng 1 3 cents. The growers are slow In selling and believe that they- will be able to get as high as 80 cents a little later In the season. Mayor j. d. Plamondon and wife were among Wenaha springs visitors Eunday. A few men are contin ually being employed on different rarts of the project, but the larger part of those who were employed at the dam are now at work near Echo, where a large stretch of cement work Is being put along the ditch. The church has been prosperous for the past year, the entire debt of 12149 being paid off. Barmore has been In Wyom ing visiting relatives for a short time. Roy W. Saxton and George W. Brown of the reclamation service have been in Portland for" a few days. George Stubblefield of the reclama tion service has gone to Kansas City to spend his vacation. The alfalfa hay crop turned out very good in this section of the county this year. Rev. I. W. Harvest is going on In all directions and continued reports of good yields come In from the different field.
