Bishops, minister and educators of the Meth odist Episcopal church, south, are arriving here today from all over the mnritrv tn attend the third education al convention of the denomination, which will be opened this evening un der the auspices of the board of edu cation. During the meetings, whlcn will be continued tomorrow and Thursday, Important educational ques tions will be considered. Among the speakers on the pro gram of the convention are Bishop r.aiiowav of MIssIsIddI. Chancellor Barrow of the University of Georgia, Oovemor Hoke Smith of Georgia, Chancellor Klrkland of Vanderbllt University, F. H. Walnwrlght of St. Louis and Dr. W. P. Few of Trinity college. Although the representation at the convention Is mainly from the south, all parts of the country and several foreign lands are represented. EVENTS IE RAILROAD COMPANY AND TRACTION COMPANY CLASH Dissatisfaction from Laying of Tracks Lodge Officers for New Order Much Intern Being Taken in Columbia College Commencement Fruits In Excellent Condition. Freewater. May 19. There was a slight crash here Saturday between the Walla Walla traction company and the O. R. & N. company, when the O. R. & N. roadmaster, acting under orders pulled up the Walla Walla val ley Traction tracks In front of the Freewater cannery. The tracks were laid last week over the same ground, each company using their own rails and ties, but the rails of each com pany being six Inches apart, the trac tion rails being six inches closer to the cannery than the O. R. & N. It Is understood that the difficulty has been satisfactorily settled. Elect Lodge Officers. Last evening the department of music and elocution gave their recital. The principal feature of this occasion was the "Garden of Singing Flowers." The story of the flowers In song. Calderhead, general agent for the Northern Pacific railway at Wal la Walla, Is In town today making ar rangements for the special train to run from Pendleton to Seattle on Fri day the 22nd, on the occasion of the welcome to the fleet celebration. The fleet will arrive In Elliott bay, Seattle, on the afternoon of Saturday, the 23rd. and the special train will leave Pendleton on the morning of the day previous In order that the vi si torn mav witness the arrival. There will be 28 battleships in tne fleet, and the chambers of commerce of Seattle and Tacoma have provided Special programs for each day. The fleet will remain at beauie un til the 26th, when It will move down to Tacoma, where it remains until the 2th. The officers of the navy are working In accord with the citizens of the Sound cities, and it is plannea to give all visitors an opportunity to Inspect the vessels and witness the maneuvers while In the Sound. The whole fleet will be brllllantij illuminated at night by electricity, and the program for the entertain ment of the men and officers is me most elaborate that has ever been undertaken by the two cities.
