Crop Outlook Good. me condition of the wheat and fruit crops In this state Is at present good," said Sam Glasgow of the Cen tonnlal mills, yesterday, "and although no man can prophesy with certainty unout the crops at this period of the season, the chances for a good harvest of fruit and wheat are, In my opinion splendid." The effect upon growing wheat of tne somewhat cool weather recently Is nuner Denenclal than otherwise, pro vided always It does not lait too lone u is uaiQ, wneat which, emera-lno- irom me ground encounters continued coi weamer, directs Its energy of growth downward temporarily. The result Is that the tender shoots take a deeper and stronger root before It Degins the process of stoolina- and spreading out above ground. The ef- r-ci of these deeper roots Is to render the wheat plants better able to with stand the hot dry weather to which tney are always liable to bo cxDod later in the season. Snokesman-Re. view. As some of my friends know, I owned a half section of land at Echo which. I bought over 29 years ago, and sold it about two years ago for a ridiculous sum. I did not realize at the time the great fu ture that all these lands at Echo and Hermlston had. I am satisfied now from the great progress that has been made In that section that within three years the lands will be worth from $300 to $1000 an acre. There Is no doubt In my mind that big profits will be real ized. Tonrs very truly, s ,v. ' R- ALEXANDER.
